Trump travel ban comes into force

A US travel ban has come into force meaning that people from a number of mainly Muslim countries may not be allowed to enter the United States.

The travel ban, on the orders of President Trump, applies to people from Iran, Libya, Syria, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen, as well as to all refugees.

However judges provided a major exception, for those who have “a credible claim of a bona fide relationship” with someone in the US effectively meaning that citizens of the affected countries with a close relative in the US, such as a spouse, parent, child or sibling, will potentially be allowed in.
