Representatives of the Japanese Diet led by Mr Hirofumi Ryu met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne at Castellania.
This visit, which closely follows the visit to Prime Minister Joseph Muscat by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzō Abe in May 2017, is testimony to the strong and friendly bilateral relations between the two countries.
“Malta and Japan are close in their understanding of fundamental values such as democracy, the rule of law, and human rights. As relations on the political front continue to develop smoothly, we look forward to registering progress on the commercial front,” said Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne. During the meeting it was agreed that Malta will, as of next year, participate in the JET – Japan Education and Training programme.
